According to science, the sense of smell plays an important role when it comes about your appetite. Neurologist Dr. Alan Hirsch says that the sense of smell and appetite are closely related. “More than 90% of taste is smell,” explains the doctor. It’s easy to notice the connection if you become fresh in the morning when you feel the smell of fresh coffee, or start to salivate at the mouth when you smell food.
Lose weight by smelling herbs, without diet
Dr. Alan Hirsch was the leader of a team who conducted a study involving 3,193 overweight volunteers. Each participant was given an inhalant containing various herb and fruit scents and they were asked to inhale three times into each nostril when they felt hungry. Hirsch explained that “the more people used the device, the more weight they lost.” The study lasted six months and over this period the participants didn’t diet. By eating 2-4 meals per day, most of them lost an average of almost five pounds each month. Some participants lost up to 18 pounds per month.
The most effective herb scent for weight loss is peppermint
According to Dr. Hirsch’s research, inhaling peppermint can directly affect your brain’s satiety center. If you inhale peppermint right before you eat a meal you will feel full. You can use this trick anytime you feel a sugar craving coming on! Just inhale some peppermint essential oil to calm and satisfy your brain, and you will get rid of the craving.
